You will note from the map of Southern Turkey shown above that Southern and Western Turkey can be divided in to four separate regions all of which have different characteristics and more importantly - Climates
As you will see this area includes the town of Izmir and the port of Cesme and is well to the north of the country it has less tourist infrastructure and while attractive necessitates considerable travel to gain full advantage of tourism opportunities.
This area includes Efes and Bodrum, and is a very large tourist area sometimes compared with St Tropez and popular with affluent Turks.
This area includes Marmaris, Fethiye, and the popular Oludeniz lagoon. Marmaris is an extremely vibrant town and appeals to night clubbers. Fethiye tends to have shingly beaches but Oludeniz is very beautiful.
You will see from the above map of Southern Turkey that this area includes the major city of Antalya and has by far the biggest airport in southern Turkey with more connections. More importantly it is by far the hottest part of Turkey, this is particularly significant when booking holidays in early spring or in late autumn. For example maximum temperatures in Marmaris of 21 or 22C for mid October compare with 27C to 31C in Antalya. The temperatures for this district in April vary from 20C to 24C rising to as high as 48C in July and August.

This area has easily the finest golf courses to be found in Turkey principally centred around the small town of Belek. A new course just completed and 25 minutes from Four Seasons called Lykia World is the only links course in Turkey.
The unique town of SIDE pronounced SEEDAY successfully combines its ancient Roman ruins and amphitheatre with modern tourism including a multitude of bars and restaurants plus a number of Discotheques including the famous OXYD and the open air disco called The Lighthouse. Its narrow and hilly pedestrianised streets house many different types of Clothes, Jewellery and Exotic Spices shops and lead down to an attractive harbour where boat trips can be found for either short or full day excursions.
Sightseeing opportunities are plentiful whether it be a trip to the attractive and lively town of Manavgat to shop, take a river trip or visit the famous Manavgat Falls.
A daytrip to The Koprulu Canyon for white water rafting or just for hiking. A jeep safari. Parasailing, a daytrip to Antalya to visit the stunning Duden falls and harbour the list goes on and on. An even more important factor is that this area has by far the best sandy beaches.
